What is a mineral powder SPF?
Mineral powder SPF are sunscreens that come in convenient powder forms, that are formulated with all-mineral ingredients, including zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb into the skin, mineral powders sit on top of the skin to provide a physical barrier that reflects and deflects harmful UV rays. Colorescience’s Brush-On Shield SPF 50 is an example of our mineral powder SPFs, and offer an easy, on-the-go solution to sun protection that can be applied on-top makeup or alone.
How long does powder sunscreen last?
It depends on many factors, such as whether you will be getting wet and whether you have applied it over the top of another product (primer, foundation, etc.) but as a general rule you should reapply a sun protection powder every two hours. For best results, apply the powder last and only after the other products you used have had time to set.
What are the benefits of powder sunscreen?
Powder sunscreen offers a convenient option to sun protection, and makes it easy to apply and reapply on-the go. Our Brush-On Shield SPF 50 can be applied onto bare skin, or over the top of makeup. Reapplication every two hours is essential (more frequently if in contact with water or heavy perspiration), so our powder sunscreen options make this process quick and seamless.
