Been a long time customer of your products, I was really looking forward to using the SUNFORGETTABLE TOTAL PROTECTION FACE SHIELD MATTE SPF 50 product. The description mentions that it is tinted, and I was expecting a neutral tone. To my surprise it is more bronze, which gave my skin a yellowish tone. Very disappointed. It went straight to the rubbish :-(
At 56 I have a mature skin that I like to look after as much as I can. This was recommended to me by a good friend and I’m glad that I took her advice and gave it a go. As your skin ages makeup becomes more tricky to apply and can enhance wrinkles and other signs of ageing but this product gives such a lovely base for applying other makeup or for days when I don’t want to wear any makeup at all. My complexion looks even, non oily and healthy. It hasn’t hidden the wrinkles - but it hasn’t emphasised them either. And the fact that the SPF is protecting my skin at the same time is a major bonus.
I was hoping this matte sunscreen will be better than the original Sunforgettable, which is very oily and never dries down on my face. This spf is a bit less oily and shiny, but I still wouldn't call it matte. There is only one shade which is ok for a light-medium skintone, it's a little too dark for light skin.
I was really excited to try this product but was immediately disappointed to find that despite being advertised as “ideal for medium to deep skin tone” I was still getting the dreaded white cast. For reference, I am mixed-race and use Estée Lauder shade 4N2. I hoped that the formula would sink into my skin over the course of the day, but sadly it failed to do that too. As well as not matching my skin tone, the formula caused me to break out with small white heads all over my face after only two days of use. It’s a skincare face that different products work for different people, but I certainly would’ve appreciated a tester being available to both match the colour as well as assess how it would react with my skin. Instead I’ve now wasted £25 on a product that has ended up in the bin. Maybe if Colorescience made samples available I would still consider trying another product, but with a price tag of £25+ each that’s certainly not going to be the case.
Total Protection Face Shield Matte is designed to absorb excess oil and provide a shine-free matte coverage. Currently, we don't offer samples of our Face Shield products, but you can try them all and get expert advice by our team in our London shop at 23 Wigmore Street.
Medium Brown Skinned South Asian Woman here, and prone to breakouts. Still on a skin care journey; been dealing w/ dry, semi-oily skin esp after cleansing. Bought this after finishing my first cs. spf in classic, as it wasn't suitable for my skin type. Highlights: 1. Blends in with my skin tone! 2. Doesn't -alone- break me out (as mentioned, still learning about skin care) 3. Blurs pores (never phased me as I dont wear makeup) HOWEVER, Whether I'm overly zealous with my application or moderate, I always find pilling in my bushman eyebrows and in my hairline. So I wipe it away with a muslin cloth or micellar water and a spoolie. With careful app, it recently hasnt been as much of a pain. But boy do I have to 'shampoo' my brows in the evening. -_____- Overall, is a dream. A fantastic product that fulfills almost everything I could need in a sunscreen. Hence 4/5.
