What is a mineral based UV protector?

The active ingredients in a mineral based powder sunscreen, or a cream, are what makes them different to the regular old types of chemical-based sunscreens. We will go over some more of the specifics next, but for now there is one main difference to remember. In basic terms, a mineral-based UV protector uses active ingredients that physically block UV rays, reflecting them away from you, and preventing them from penetrating your skin.

Are Mineral UV Protectors better than chemical?

Yes, most dermatologists agree that using a mineral-based formulation, whether it is a powder sunscreen or a cream, is better than the traditional chemical-based alternative.

How long does powder sunscreen last?

It depends on many factors, such as whether you will be getting wet and whether you have applied it over the top of another product (primer, foundation, etc.) but as a general rule you should reapply a sun protection powder every two hours. For best results, apply the powder last and only after the other products you used have had time to set.
