The average UK adult spends 9.5 hours per day in front of screens. That may sound like a lot of time, but when you factor in your desk job in front of the computer, Netflix binge-watching and Instagram scrolling before bed, the hours add up very quickly! While staring at a screen all day has become the norm, concerns are raising about its effect on our health, in particular our skin.
Why blue light is harmful for the skin?
Blue light (also referred to as HEV light) wavelength ranges from 380 to 500nm which means it can penetrate deeper into the skin than both UVA and UVB light (280-400nm). Evolving research has shown HEV radiation can induce oxidative stress in the dermis and prompt inflammation and pigmentation issues.
How do we protect against blue light?
We’ve reformulated our bestselling Sunforgettable Brush to include our new proprietary EnviroScreen Technology – an exclusive blend of patented active ingredients that create a barrier, preventing free radical formulation and oxidative stress.
In our HEV light sunscreen, we use iron oxides - micronized pigments that are most commonly used as cosmetics colorants. In conjunction with other ingredients in our formula, they also help protect the skin from UVB/UVA damage and photoageing caused by HEV light. Our EnviroScreen Technology protects against 93% of blue light in our Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Brush-on Shield SPF 50.
